I paint in oil and acrylic, both in my studio and on location around my home in the rural San Juan Islands of Washington State.

My strongest inspiration comes from what I observe in nature. Most obviously this includes the ever-changing kaleidoscope of light and colors around the sea and forest. But every painting also contains themes of life and death which are constantly playing out all around us at every scale.

I use my art to slow down and take real time to watch life, as well as to digest and make peace with what I see. What I learn from the experience naturally translates into how I choose to live, and I hope to bring some of this contemplation to the lives of my viewers as well.
